La canicule.
L’invasion de millions de coccinelles sur les tentes à la plage (pour ceux qui ne me croient pas…)
Je jouais au tennis avec un bob blanc et un bandana mouillé autour du cou ; bandana qu’il fallait retourner humecter toutes les dix minutes aux vestiaires…
Mais qui se souvient encore d’Al Stewart (65 ans aujourd’hui) et de son année du chat (Year of the Cat) ?

C’est l’année de naissance de mon fils !! , les coccinelles sur les tentes bien sûr( j(‘étais sous la tente) , je crois que mes filles prenaient de leçons avec le prof au bandana et cette chanson a bercé cet été là …………

76 je ne me souviens pas non plus des coccinelles, j’étais en vacance en Espagne, mais en revanche je n’ai pas oublié l’affreux gros cafard immonde, la plus horrible bestiole jamais croisé, résidant malheureux (assassiné par mon père) d’une pension bon marché
Cette chanson est vraiment trop moche.
Je me souviens bien de la canicule et des coccinelles mais pas de cette chanson !
Ah oui, je l’avais oubliée cette chanson ! 76, l’année de mon bac, j’étais super bronzée et je l’ai eu quand même !

En 76, j’avais huit ans et j’ai passé une partie de l’été aux Baléares. Je n’ai pas quitté la piscine de l’hôtel où ils diffusaient en boucle, le nouvel album des Wings :

Eh non un Stewart pouvant en cacher un autre. Rod et Tonight’s the Night, mais surtout Hôtel California des Eagles. Me souvient de rien d’autre. Ni des bêtes à bon dieu, ni de la chaleur. Rien du tout. Si pink des floyd.
Mais ce la a-t-il de l’importance.
Rod a eu un peu plus de chance semble-t-il.
Me souviens de rien d’autres. Sauf un truc sans importance, j’écrivais, la République Française en 365 pages. Jacques m’a piqué le manuscrit, tout écrit à la main. Sans doute avais-je écris un livre porno pour enfants. Faut un début à tout. Et pourtant j’étais loin de la république française d’aujourd’hui. Elle est toujours fille ainée, mais de qui, de quoi? En 76 je ne pleurais pas, j’étais heureux.
Et on s’était fait arnaquer par la Fram. On dormait à 3 dans une petite chambre. On mangeait des mauvaises boulettes de viande mais il faisait beau et on riait bien. Des roux étaient venus tenter le diable et livraient leur chair blanche à l’intense lumière. Mon frère jouait aux échecs installé au bar.
La mer était une vraie poubelle sous mes lunettes de plongée…
Inconnu pour moi ce Al Stewart. Canicule, coccinelles, oui. Et plein de pantalons blancs, non? On jouait à les compter.
Pas oublié la musique qui a bercé mon “enfance” cette année là, entre quelques plongées dans les récifs coralliens aux antipodes, donc les coccinelles and co aucun souvenir^^^
Il m’est difficile de me souvenir d’Al Stewart pour la simple raison que je ne le connaissais pas.
Mais cette année bacaniculaire est si loin !

Ma femme me rappelle qu’elle ne comprenait pas à l’époque pourquoi Al Stewart chantait de l’oreille du chat puisq’elle croyait entendre “The Ear of the Cat”.

L’université d’été du PRG, qui se tient à Seignosse, dans les Landes, ce week-end, était le bon moment pour une photo de famille au-tour du fils prodigue.
Mais Bernard Tapie a perdu son chien. Inconsolable, il a décidé de sécher l’université et de laisser les radicaux de gauche discuter sans lui. Même si sa tristesse est sincère, on mesure à ce choix l’idée qu’il se fait de la politique
Pour tout vous dire, cette époque reste associée pour moi aux “L”-oches qui servaient de nourriture aux cochons…
Mes parents et leurs amis ont su nous préserver de ce style de consommation, directe ou indirecte.
Oui cette voix acidulée et ce piano léger, que de souvenirs.
Il y avait aussi un autre Al : Al Kooper encore plus magique…
je suis née en mai 76 je connais pas ce morceau ni ce chanteur.
Cet été j’ai chercher des coccinelles pour mon fils de 4ans, on en a pas trouver.

Il serait bien triste de réduire Al Stewart à Year Of The Cat qui a certes été son plus grand succés…
Environ 30 albums, sans compter les inédits, il a inventé un folk rock très inspiré par les anecdotes historiques, continue de sortir des albums d’une perfection musicale rare; c’est un guitariste parolier (et en plus oenologue) hors pair.
Particularité, a partagé une piaule à NY avec Paul Simon dans les sixties.
Franchement un GRAND musicien.

Je souscris pleinement au commentaire de JJ. Al Stewart est un grand bonhomme, grand guitariste, découvreur de talents, des grands musiciens ont débuté chez lui. Sur son deuxième album, Love Chronicles, vous retroverez outre Richard Thompson et Ashley Hutchings de Fairport Convention, Jimmy Page, de Led Zeppelin. Seul Year of the Cat a connu un succès planétaire, mais le reste est au moins aussi bon!
Al Stewart, est à mon avis un grand artiste. Sa musique est tellement bien travaillée, les paroles de ses chansons aussi, son style reste inégalable…Bravo Al, tu nous as vraiment enchanté durant des décennies…
